Lars Jacobsen: tenor & soprano saxophones, flute, bass clarinet, clarinet

Lars began studying the clarinet, in the 5th grade when a school notice offering lessons coincided with his parents' discovery of his natural talent for playing the "air sax" to the Foreigner hit, "Emergency". And so it was with urgency that he took up the saxophone soon after, studying with Bay Area musician and composer, Ken Rosen, and over the next several years, performed numerous recitals and concerts with his father, Keith Jacobsen, who is an accomplished classical pianist.

After studying saxophone with greats George Garzone, Billy Pierce, and the late Joe Viola, at Berklee College of Music in the early to mid 90s, Lars returned to San Francisco, played brazilian music with Planet Rio, and ran away with the Pickle Family Circus.

Since moving to NYC in 1996, Lars has performed and/or recorded with numerous great, and notable New York-based musicians, including Norah Jones, Gabriel Shuford, Nicholas Walker, Lee Alexander, Dina Dean, Amanda Monaco, Lee Ann Westover, J.C. Hopkins, Patience Higgins, James Zollar, J. Walter Hawkes, John Bollinger, Chris Moore, Michael Goodman (Fiery Furnaces), and many more.
